Second Team vs Robinstown

Match Report

On a wet Wednesday evening Celtic’s neighbours Robinstown travelled over to Tully Park to play out an entertaining contest. It took both teams a while to get to grips with the weather with heavy rain making it slippery underfoot tackles were flying in with neither team afraid to get stuck in. Trim Celtic probably shaded the first half with young Cian McCarthy doing good work down the right wing and Niall Farrell and Ruairi Shortt controlling the middle of the park. Rob Westphal, when called upon, made a fine one on one just before half-time as the sides went in scoreless at the break.
The Robinstown defence had been superb not giving away too much but Trim upped the tempo in the second and the visitors into their own half. A succession of Celtic corners paid dividends as Niall Farrell nodded home to give the home side the lead. Trim added another goal 10 minutes later with good play from Lee Dixon and Farrell which the former put away to cap a fine performance. Robinstown tried to push out and get one back but the Hoops hit them on the break with a fine finish from Leon O’Neill to make it 3-0 We wish Robinstown best of luck for the season.
Best for Trim were Niall Farrell, Mark Corrigan and Cian McCarthy.
