Match Report

There was a clash of the tabletopping heavyweights of Division 3a and 3b in Tully Park yesterday and Celtic came out the better of the two but Duleek can hold their heads high because they put in a top class performance.
The first half started with the visitors controlling the tempo of the game but Trim grew into the game and took the lead after Lee Dixon was fouled and with the resultant free-kick he curved the ball around the duleek keeper to make it 1-0. Some smart play in the middle of the park saw Niall Farrell put Dixon into the penalty area to slot home his and Celtic’s second. The home side were flying but conceded a goal against the run of play just before half-time
For the first 15 minutes of the second half Duleek dominated, they hit the post and Celtic keeper Robert Westphal was called into action on more than one occasion trim celtic woke up and with a perfect cross to keep their lead intact. Despite Duleek’s dominance the decisive fourth goal was scored by Trim as a superb cross from substitute Darryl Kelly was headed home by in-form Dominic Fagan. Duleek’s heads dropped and Celtic put the dagger in with Fagan set up Paul Bartley to make it four before Kelly provided another assist pulling one to the back post for fellow substitute Daniel Mac Grianna to slot home completing a great result for Trim Celtic. Duleek are a top team best of luck for the rest of the season and we hope to play them again before the season is over.
