Reserves vs Kilmessan

Match Report

Trim Celtic progressed to the second round of the Reserve Cup with a win over local rivals Kilmessan. Despite a positive start for the Trim side it was the visitors who drew first blood taking the lead with a superb free kick. However, the lead was to be short lived as Luke Mahon struck his 4th goal of the season to equalise. Celtic had chances to score the second but either the final pass or finish let them down but took the lead when Mahon converted from the spot after Munnelly was fouled in the box. Mahon completed his first half hat-trick when he latched onto Leon O’Neill’s through ball to fire to the net.
Kilmessan should have got back in the game but passed up the opportunity by failing to convert a penalty of their own. Substitutes Oisin Devlin and Aaron Ryan added goals as the visitors got stretched before Niall Farrell lashed home the 6th from 25 yards.
