Match Report

On a beautiful crisp morning with the sun in their faces, Trim started off to a flying start and put it up to OMP pressing high up the pitch. It was on this first attack in the 1st minute that Celtic got their first goal. After some good interplay between Ciaran Caulfield and James Molloy, the ball came back to Conor Gray who slotted the ball home neatly in the bottom right hand side of the goal. This period of pressure was sustained and Trim could have been two up after 5 mins when a Ciaran Caulfield shot went narrowly wide from a corner. In the 11th minute Trim and Conor Gray got their second when Conor came in from the left and deftly chipped the keeper. Celtic got their 3rd in the 14th minute through an impressive move where Joey Cole dispossessed the an OMP player in midfield and played the ball though to Conor O’Hare, played a through ball straight into James Molloy’s path which was slotted in the net with clinical precision. OMP amost pulled goal back in the 24th minute but David Curran came off his line quickly to make an impressive blocking save. Before the break. Ciaran Caulfield grabbed his 18th of the season with a fine finish from the edge of the area.
James Molloy added two assist to his goal when he was the provider for both Aaron McCormack’s goals early in the second half. Kris Gorman got his name on the scoresheet with a cracking goal from 30yards which sailed over the keeper to nestle in the net. Wesley Gibbons pushed forward from the back to score a while Sean McDonnell grabbed a pair for himself. Kris Gorman and James Molloy added their second goals before the final whistle blew to send Celtic through to the Premier Shield Final where they await the winners of the other semi-final between Park Celtic Summerhill and Parkvilla Claret.
