Match Report

Two goals in each half gave Kingscourt a victory against Trim Celtic on a crisp morning at their Mount St. Josephs pitch. The win was more comfortable on the scoreboard than on the pitch as the game was decided by defensive errors by Celtic who more than held their own in general play. Trim opened brightly and played neat football at times on the all weather surface but other than Evan Smyth's effort from an interception didn't create any clear chances. Kingscourt looked dangerous at times but didn't trouble Shaun Mulryan in the Trim goal for the first 20 minutes. On 22 minutes Kingscourt broke through the middle onto a long ball and the chance was finished neatly to the keeper's left. 10 minutes later a poor clearance by Trim presented Kingscourt with the opportunity to extend their lead which they gratefully accepted.
The second half began with Trim again playing some nice football but without creating a clear goal chance. 10 minutes into the half Kacper Jagodzinski had to be replaced through injury and while he was receiving attention Kingscourt got a third from an excellent long range shot. Evan Smyth replaced Shaun Mulryan in goals and within a minute had pulled off an excellent save. However it was just a few minutes later when Kingscourt got goal number four from the penalty spot. Despite the scoreline there were several goodd performances form Trim players. Both goalkeepers performed well. Best for Trim outfield were Nathan McCormack, Kian Oliver and Sean McPhillips who did an excellent job keeping Kingscourt's best player under wraps.
Trim Celtic: Shaun Mulryan, Kian Oliver, Finn O'Connor, Sam Lynch, Oisin Gallagher, Nathan McCormack, Evan Smyth, Kacper Jagodzinski, Tyreece Tango, Dylan Smith, Sean McPhillips, Donal McGale, Oisin Comiskey
