Match Report

Trim started very slowly and conceded two early goals, one after four minutes and the second after seven minutes. After the shock of these two goals, Trim started to come back into the game and on 15 minutes Evan Collins pulled one back from a great free kick that floated over the goalkeeper into the top corner. Shortly after, Trim thought they had equalised after a strong run down the right hand side by Jack Conneely saw the ball in the Kentstown net but the referee ruled it out.
Trim started the second half brightly and put Kentstown under pressure with most of the play being in the Kentstown half. Sean Mukitiri and Aaron O'Sullivan in particular made a number of runs down the left hand side that put the Kentstown defence under pressure. Kentstown conceded a series of corners and after Ben Ryan and Jack Conneely hit the bar in quick succession mid way through the half, it was beginning to look like Trim would not manage to find an equaliser. However, they kept up the pressure and on 56 minutes Charlie McCormack thumped home the equaliser from a loose ball at the edge of the Kentstown box. Having broken the deadlock, Trim then scored two more goals in the final two minutes from Evan Collins and Sean Lynch to win the match 4-2. After match, the lads and parents got some extra strength and conditioning training as a number of cars had to be pushed out of the mud in the car park !
