Match Report

This was a must win game for the Gunners and they started like they knew this was the case, taking the led after 8 mins through Ciaran Caulfield. The Gunners were in control at this stage and limiting Kells to very few chances however after 20 mins, Kells equalised after they pounced on a dropping ball outside the box to lob the ball into the top corner. The score remained at 1-1 until half time, but there was a flurry of goals in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. After 33 mins the Gunners regained the lead when a cross from David Boyle was deflected into the Kells net by a Kells defender. This lead was short lived as 1 min later Kells were again back on level terms and slightly against the run of play took the lead on 37 mins. To their credit the Gunners heads did not drop and they were rewarded 2 mins later when they equalised with a brilliant lob by Aaron Mc Cormack. The Gunners were now on top and retook the lead on 45 mins through David Boyle following good work by Josh Harris. The lead was increased to 5-3 a minute later by Ciaran Caulfield and the same player completed his hat trick 2 mins from time. There was still time for Kells to score a late consolation from an o.g. in the last minute. This was a great all round performance by the Gunners to beat the league leaders who had not dropped a point before today. Outstanding for the Gunners were James Bourke in goals, Wes Gibbons who superbly marshalled the defence, Josh Harris who was played a pivotal role in front of the defence and the hat trick hero Ciaran Caulfield who was a constant threat to Kells with his blistering pace and finishing ability.
