Trim Celtic proved too strong for a young BJD Celtic team who were never able to recover from falling behind early on. Keith Jones gave the home side the lead before Derek Donohoe added a second on ten minutes. Brian Faulkner added the first of his six goals on the half hour before James Goggins scored Celtic's fourth. Faulkner's second, third and fourth rounded off the first half scoring.
The Trim side showed no signs of letting up as Seán FitzGerald scored within minutes of the restart with Faulkner's fifth following soon after. Keith Jones scored his side's tenth with substitute Colm O'Reilly adding another soon after. Faulkner's sixth came with fifteen minutes to go with another substitute Declan Dowling completing the scoring.
