Match Report

Trim Celtic made it twelve wins in a row as they overcame bottom side Ardee Celtic at Tully Park. The home side meant business from the start with Paddy Brophy crashing Jack O’Keeffe’s corner onto the bar on seven minutes. It wasn’t long before they had the lead as Aaron Williams latched onto Paul Munnelly’s defence splitting pass, held off a defender and slotted to the net. Conor Walsh had a shot well tipped over and Cillien Corcoran shot at the keeper before Jack O’Keeffe doubled the Trim side’s lead. Pulling a superb crossfield pass from Walsh down in an instant O’Keeffe shuffled past a defender before shooting to the far corner. The inevitable happened on 37 minutes as Brian Faulkner showed great strength and close control in the box before swivelling and hammering a shot into the top corner for his 17th goal of the season. On the stroke of halftime Williams put the game to bed with a superb control and finish from O’Keeffe’s driven cross.
In the second half Ardee worked hard to frustrate Trim who also weren’t at their most clinical in front of goal. Substitute Dean Courtney sent a shot skimming off the top of the crossbar following a superb run from Cillien Corcoran. Another substitute Ciaran O’Connell wrapped up the scoring curling home superbly from the edge of the box.
