Match Report
Trim Celtic got their first league win of the season and spoiled Carrick Rovers’ return to the Premier Division as the visitors came away with a 7-1 win. Colm Carney opened the scoring when his shot found the net via a defender twenty minutes in. Around the 35 minute march Celtic grabbed two goals in a couple of minutes, the first from Carney and the second from Brian Faulkner. Carney scored his hat-trick on the stroke of halftime.
Carney started the second half as he had finished the first by bagging his 4th goal.
Cillien Corcoran bagged a sixth ten minutes in and Luke Mahon scored Celtic’s final goal (his 3rd of the weekend having scored a brace for the Reserves in Saturday).
Due to a car crash on the way up Celtic found themselves without a goalkeeper, with Sean FitzGerald volunteering to pull on the gloves he was only denied a clean sheet with the last kick of the ball as Carrick grabbed a consolation.
