Match Report

Celtic got the better of Borora to record their first win of the season on a dreadful night in Borora when incessant rain and a cut up pitch threatened to derail their endeavours. It was always going to be the team that dealt best with the conditions that prevailed and after 25 minutes the away side took the lead. Oran Kirby, just on for the injured Dean Rowlands, won the ball in his own half and powered forward. He released Liam Reilly down the left wing and Reilly beat the defender and placed a left footed shot wide of the keeper and into the corner to give Celtic a half time lead.
With fifteen minutes of the second half gone Celtic hit the woodwork twice in a few minutes, first through Mark Cunningham and then Sean Foley after a fine run. They were made pay shortly afterwards as Borora equalised with a speculative shot which deceived the Trim goalkeeper. The teams weren't level for long though as Mark Cunningham restored Celtic's lead minutes later with a fine strike which went in off the inside of the post. Ten minutes later Celtic were lucky to be still ahead as Borora missed a penalty and Evan deCourcey Tobin made the game safe with a tap in from a corner in the last minute.
