Match Report

Trim Celtic Premier U15 advanced to the next round of the shield after a hard fought 4-2 win away to a confident Bohermeen team. Fresh from their Division 1 league title win, Bohermeen FC started brightly and had a couple of early chances cleared. Celtic looked sluggish and some poor passing and indecisiveness lead to the opening goal. A mix up at the back only invited the Bohermeen centre forward to have a clear shot to give the home side the lead. 1-0 Celtic tried but failed to get out of first gear and their passing never got going. HT 1-0 The second half started poorly. After another mix up following a Bohermeen corner, Celtic failed to clear their lines properly and from the edge of the box, the Bohermeen midfielder turned and fired a shot in the bottom corner past David Boyle to double the home teams advantage. 2-0 Celtic continued to work harder and press higher as Gorman who could have scored twice himself, lead the charges from the middle. And after some positional changes, the league leaders showed their class with a 4 goal blitz in the final 15 mins. The first goal came from an excellent run from Molloy that cut through the Bohermeen defence. He then had the vision to put Jared Akigbesote through one on one with the keeper. 2-1 The second came within one minute, when good work from Tully and Gorman found Mc Cormack in space. His cross went all the way through to Mc Donnell on the left and he finished in style to make it 2-2. 10 mins later, the semi final hero Conor O’Hare was at it again with another excellent free kick that found the far corner to put Celtic 2-3 up with a few mins to go. As Bohermeen pressed, Jared Akigbesote scored the goal of the game in the final minute. The flowing team move from the keeper right up to Molloy who found Akigbesote again in style. The Celtic top marksman made no mistake to score his 11th goal in 12 games. Squad: David Boyle, Aaron Mc Cormack, Harry Cottrell, Sean Tully, Alan Costello, Kris Gorman, Sean Mc Donnell, Conor O Hare, James Molloy, Daniel Mc Cormack, Jared Akigbesote MOTM: Kris Gormanh
