Celtic slipped to an unlucky 3-0 defeat in Cavan in a game which was not reflected in the scoreline. After an even opening twenty minutes Kingscourt took the lead with a fine twenty yard strike and went on to double their lead just before half time. Celtic had plenty of the play but were unable to find a breakthrough and the game was settled for title chasing Kinsgcourt when they scored their third on 45 minutes. Celtic then missed from the spot with five minutes to go to round off a miserable day for the Hoops. Best for Celtic were James Murray, Eoghan Lenehan and Mark Cunningham.
