Match Report

In a game short on goals but not on excitement an under strength Celtic held the home side scoreless to share the points for their first draw of the season. Indeed were it not for an excellent save by the Enfield 'keeper it could have been even better for Celtic. On a dramatic evening, which started with an absentee referee and only ten Celtic players, the game itself was probably one of the most exciting so far this season as both teams attacked from the start. The late arrival of the referee meant a shortened game and with no substitutes available to Celtic it was a great credit to the players who turned out as injury and tiredness had to be put aside for the duration of the game. With a great travelling support cheering them on Celtic took the game to Enfield and an excellent run and shot by Andreas Lopez nearly had them in front in the first half but his low effort was excellently turned round the post by the Enfield 'keeper.
The second half meant a little bit more defending for the Hoops but some last ditch tackling by Mark Cunningham and Adam Wilson capped excellent performances from both players. It was a job well done by Celtic who have yet to beat Enfield but as the final whistle went in near darkness the lads might have felt they deserved something more out of the game.
Best for Celtic were Mark Cunningham, Adam Wilson, Andreas Lopez and Conor McGinley.
Trim Celtic: Luke Doyle, Conor McGinley, Mark Cunningham, Adam Wilson, Eoin Gaffney, Fionn McEvoy, Andreas Lopez, Liam Reilly, Jack Vaughan, Evan deCourcey Tobin, Andrew Gibney
