Match Report

Trim Celtic advanced to the next round of the Gerry Reilly Memorial Cup with a fine win against Division 4 side and local rivals Parkceltic Summerhill. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half the Trim side knew they would need to manufacture a lead to hang on it and had the dream start when David Conway curled home on five minutes. The visitors spurned a chance to draw level blazing over from 10 yards. The Hoops doubled their lead when Conor Daly chased down what looked like a lost cause but his mere presence led to a defensive error which Daly pounced on to squeeze the ball home from an impossible angle. Celtic started the second half well and were rewarded when Marky Corrigan curled home a delightful free kick from the angle of the box. Parkceltic thought they had pulled a goal back with a headed from a dangerous free kick but it was chalked off for a push in the box. They did however pull a goal back with a superb volley from the edge of the box but it wasn't to be enough with Trim Celtic able to cope with anything thrown at them.
