Match Report

On a tough afternoon in Tully Park, the Gunners came up against an in-form Parkvilla who won this game with a little bit to spare. The Gunners lack of match practice plus the unavailability of 2 key defenders meant that they needed to start this game strongly. However it was Parkvilla who made all the early running and duly went 1-0 up after 4 minutes. This was not the start that the Gunners needed but to their credit they came back into the game after this, however their lack of pace at the back was again cruelly exposed when Parkvilla went 2-0 up after 15 minutes. James Bourke made a fine save after 17 minutes but Parkvilla did make it 3-0 after 25 minutes.
The Gunners started the 2nd half well and almost pulled a goal back after 2 minutes when a shot by David Boyle was brilliantly turned onto the crossbar by the Parkvilla keeper. That was as close as the Gunners came to scoring despite a few excellent moves in the 2nd half. Parkvilla kept pressing and would have increased their lead but for a fantastic save by James Bourke in the 37th minute following a goal line clearance by Donal McGale. Parkvilla scored their 4th goal in the 41st minute and despite some good work by the Gunners in defence Parkvilla scored a 5th with a minute to go. Best for the Gunners were James Bourke in goals, Wesley Gibbons and Donal McGale.
