Match Report

Trim Celtic crashed out of the cup in heart-breaking circumstances against Enfield for the second consecutive year as the home team overcame an under-strength but determined Celtic side.
Despite missing their central defensive pairing and the influential Andreas Lopez, Celtic re-grouped and every player gave 100% as they withstood everything Enfield threw at them. With Eoghan Lenehan and Goalkeeper Luke Doyle in excellent form it looked like Celtic might hold out for extra time. Indeed, man of the match Doyle pulled off several quality saves to keep the teams level but in the end the pressure told on Celtic and with ten minutes to go Enfield got their breakthrough when a tough challenge on Doyle meant the ball broke to the Enfield forward who slotted it into the empty net.
This seemed to spur on Celtic however and as Enfield dropped deeper Celtic started coming more into the game. With injury time beckoning Liam Reilly was held back just outside the box resulting in a free kick and a yellow card for the defender. Up stepped James Murray to curl an unstoppable shot over the top of the wall but, with the Enfield 'keeper rooted to the spot, the ball struck the inside of the post and flew across the goal-mouth and with it went Celtic's last chance as the final whistle went. Next up is Parkvilla in a do or die league clash next Saturday with everything still to play for in the league. Best for Celtic were Luke Doyle, Eoghan Lenehan, Conor McGinley and Jack Vaughan.
Trim Celtic: Luke Doyle, Eoghan Lenehan, Adam Wilson, Eoin Gaffney, Jack Vaughan, Conor McGinley, James Murray, Evan deCourcey Tobin, Fionn McEvoy, Liam Reilly, Andrew Gibney
