Match Report

Trim Celtic soared to the top of the NEFL Premier Reserve table with a fine away win to 3rd placed Bellurgan Utd. Playing against a gale of a wind in the first half, Niall Farrell opened the scoring after 5 minutes when he nipped in front of the keeper to chest the ball home from a dangerous in swinging corner. Sean Hyland doubled the lead 10 minutes later when a corner was half cleared to Aaron Newman who's cross found Hyland at the back post to head home. Ten minutes before half time Tommy Farrell made it three with a neat finish after superb build up play from Marky Corrigan and James Hyland. Bellurgan pulled a goal back on the stroke of halftime to keep the game alive. The second half was a scrappy affair, with Bellurgan pushing for goals Celtic were able to catch them on the break on numerous occasions but couldn't punish them until James Hyland scored a cracking 30 yard volley to seal the 3 points with 15 minutes left. Niall Farrell capped another fine performance with a tidy left foot finish following a good break also involving Newman and Tommy Farrell. Best for Trim Celtic were Niall Farrell, Johnny Corrigan and James Hyland. With Rock Celtic in cup action this victory meant the Trim side have pulled level with the men from Sandy Lane with an extra game played.
