Match Report

Trim Celtic scorer: O.G.
Trim Celtic Under 14 Girls lost out to Parkvilla by the narrowest of margins in a very close encounter in Tully Park at lunch-time on Saturday. Nicole Conlon made her debut at left back, and against strong opposition put in an impressive performance. Trim got off to the perfect start on 5 minutes, when an excellent inswinging corner by Sophie O’Connor, was turned in to the net by a Parkvilla defender. Trim enjoyed long spells of possession without creating too many chances, with the front 6 providing a constant threat to the Parkvilla rearguard.
In the second half Parkvilla started to gain momentum and only the strong running and covering of Lili O’Connor and Esha Hughes prevented a number of one-on-one situations. Kathy Rispin was vocal in marshalling her busy defence. Caitlin Gorman had her busiest afternoon of the season so far in the Trim Celtic goal. Both Andrea Hiney and Sophie O’Connor used their speed down the wings to create numerous chances for their team. Parkvilla made their pressure pay after 40 mins when they equalised. Trim continued to pour forward and created many chances which were kept out by a defiant Parkvilla defence. Hanna Boggins struck the woodwork, and Michelle Doonan and Kate Forde also forced good saves by the defiant Parkvilla defence. Parkvilla scored the games crucial goal after 45 mins following a spell of continued pressure on the Trim goal. A very close and exciting game to watch for the large crowd in attendance.
