Robby Wogan's U17 side bounced back quickly after last week's defeat to St Kevin's Boys.
Another top side, Longford Town were the next big scalp for this young side in the LFA Youth Cup which is a combination of Under 17s and 18s teams. Trim Celtic never looked out of their comfort zone against a team one year older.
Longford started the stronger of the two sides and took the lead on 30mins with a fine chip over the advancing Trim goalkeeper.
The goal seemed to spur and unite the Celtic players, and it was Danny Morris that levelled affairs beating several tackles and finishing low into the corner of the net from 20 yards on 35 minutes.
1-1 at halftime set up a great second half both side pushing for the winner.
The turning point was the dismissal of a Longford Town player, a straight red for deliberate kick out at a Trim player leaving the ref no choice but to show the red card.
Longford created the better chances in the 2nd half but Nathan Sheridan produced 3 fantastic saves to keep the match level.
1-1 at full time led to 20mins of extra time.
The match turned on some positional switches with Scott O'Leary moving from center back to striker. 7 minutes into the first half of extra time Jordan Bennett chipped a fantastic ball over the defence and Scott O'Leary latched onto the pass beating the offside trap giving the keeper no chance smashing tha ball into the net to send the home side into the next round. Great celebrations from the players and supporters following the events of last week and the effort and belief shown by the entire squad.
