Match Report

Two uncharacteristic defensive errors were to prove costly for Celtic as they gave themselves a mountain to climb against a strong Kingscourt team at Tully Park. Despite gifting the away team two goals it was Celtic who made all the running and they can consider themselves unlucky not to get on the scoresheet in an exciting first period. The second half followed much the same pattern as Celtic pressed for a foothold in the game but in the 45th minute the victory was sealed for Kingscourt with a well taken strike which went in off the post. Luke Doyle produced an excellent save from a dipping volley late in the game and there was a great move involving James Murray, who fought tirelessly all game, and Liam Reilly which almost got Celtic on the scoresheet but it wasn’t to be their day in the end. Best for Celtic were James Murray, Andreas Lopez and Oran Kirby. Trim Celtic: Luke Doyle, Adam Wilson, Mark Cunningham, Oran Kirby, Eoin Gaffney, Conor McGinley, Andreas Lopez, James Murray, Liam Reilly, Andrew Gibney, Evan deCourcey Tobin Subs: Fionn McEvoy (for Gibney), Jack Vaughan (for deCourcey Tobin), Eoghan Lenehan (for Reilly), Kevin McGowan (for McGinley)
