Trim Celtic dropped their first points of the season but remain unbeaten as Ardee Celtic came from two goals behind to earn a draw they thoroughly deserved. Ardee started brightly and piled the pressure on their visitors who were able to keep them at bay. Somewhat against the run of play Tommy Farrell gave the Trim Celtic the lead, capitalising on some hesitancy in the Ardee defence to pinch the ball off the keeper and slot home. Kevin Nally came close to adding a second when James Hyland's superb cross caused havoc in the Ardee box with Nally's shot blocked on the line. Farrell also had a good chance to double his side's lead but planted his header wide from another Hyland cross. Ardee again started the second half strongly but we're kept out by some important last ditch tackles for the impressive Sean Hyland and Johnny Corrigan and keeper Robert Westphal batting away a powerful drive from the edge of the box. However similar to the first half Farrell was on hand to continue his fine scoring run finishing Conor Daly's incisive through ball. Ardee, a much stronger side than that defeated 10-1 in Trim earlier in the season, never let their heads dropped and pulled a goal back with Jonathan Deegan's low shot from the edge of the box. The longer the game went on the stronger Ardee got and they eventually got the equalising goal they deserved five minutes from full time when Graham Tighe skipped past a couple of Trim defenders to finish coolly.
