Trim Celtic’s Reserves ended a run of three straight defeats with a well earned victory over Quay Celtic in Dundalk. The Trim side started brightly and took the lead inside ten minutes when John Regan and James Hyland combined well down the right to cross for Niall Farrell who volleyed home. The Trim side were on top but we’re caught in the break as they committed too many forward while looking for a second goal as Quay grabbed an equaliser. Tommy Farrell should have restored Trim Celtic’s lead but chipped straight at the keeper but crossed superbly for Marky Corrrigan to head home his sides second goal. Celtic pushed hard for a third goal but had to wait until midway through the half to get it when Farrell lofted the ball over the keeper from an acute angle. Farrell also had another chance cleared off the line later on and the visitors had to rely on some solid handling on a greasy surface from keeper Rob Westphal late in the game to keep Quay at bay.
