Kingscourt Harps vs Reserves

Match Report

On a frosty night in Kingscourt Trim Celtic produced a superb performance to leave Mount St Joseph with all 3 points. In a very even first half hour the Harps forced Robbie Westphal into a fine save with his feet while at the other end Tommy Farrell's superb volley from Mantas Morkunas' cross forced the home keeper into a save. The same two combined for the opening goal when another superb cross by Morkunas was headed home by Farrell. 5 minutes before halftime Farrell turned provider when he seized on some indecisive defending to head to Mark Corrigan who danced his way past a couple of defenders before slotting home. The home side changed formation at halftime and started the half better but the Celtic defence held firm with Johnny Corrigan imperious at centre back and it was him who provided the assist for Celtic's third goal with his brother Mark racing clear to slot home his second goal under pressure. Kingscourt tried to get back in the game but left gaps at the back with substitute Damien McGee shooting narrowly wide from distance. Celtic couldn't add to their tally but will be equally pleased to get their first clean sheet of the season as with the 3 points.
