Match Report
Trim Celtic continued their winning run where they remain neck and neck with Muirhevna Mor on 12 points from 12. Duleek started very brightly and had Celtic pinned into their own half for the first ten minutes. Somewhat against the run of play Celtic took the lead when Rob Westphal’s long clearance found its way to James Hyland who cooly slotted under the keeper at the second attempt. Another route one goal saw Celtic double their lead as Daryll Kelly seized on a defensive error to lob the keeper from the edge of the box. Duleek had a glorious chance to get a goal back but blazed over from 6 yards. While elder brother Johnny was keeping things tight at the back with a fearless performance the two younger Corrigans, Mark and Joey, were at the heart of every positive move both seeming to make time stand still around them as they stroked the ball around effortlessly. Mark could have got himself on the scoresheet close to halftime but shot narrowly wide from the edge of the box.
With central midfielder lynchpin Conor Daly not returning for the second half Kevin Nally picked up where the injured man left off nicking the ball from the Duleek midfielders and using it wisely. With Daryll Kelly getting a lot of joy down the left it was no surprise that Celtic’s third goal came from that side as his perfect cross was met powerfully by Tommy Farrell who headed home a well deserved 7th league goal of the season. Duleek pulled a goal back in the final ten minutes but Celtic held firm to take the victory.
