Trim Celtic came from behind twice to snatch a late win against St. Peter’s Athlone. Derek Donohoe opened the scoring on five minutes when he volleyed home James Goggin’s cross. Former Athlone Town player Neil Harney equalised with a superb freekick on 25 minutes. Celtic hit the crossbar when Goggin’s cross was turned onto the crossbar by a defender with the keeper making a superb save from Donohoe’s follow-up. Harney gave his side the lead with a shot from the edge of the box on 32 minutes. St. Peter’s tested Trim keeper Barry O’Callaghan before Donohoe picked out Darragh Scannell to equalise with a header. With 16 minutes remaining Mark Sherlock gave the visitors the lead with a low shot from the edge of the box. Aaron Ryan made the score 3-3 on 79 minutes heading home Goggins’ left wing cross. Two fine saves by O’Callaghan kept the scores level before Ryan curled home his second from the corner of the box in the last minute of normal time with Goggins beating the offside trap to secure the win in injury time.
