Match Report

Trim started well with a opening goal after only two minutes when Dylan Hegney calmly slotted home after a strong run and cross from Adrian Karbownik. Trim continued to press after the early goal and went two in front on 15 minutes with a goal from Evan Collins. The play in the first half was concentrated down the Trim right hand side with Jack Conneely, Cillian Kirby and Gareth Vallelly working hard to absorb pressure from Athboy. At the start of the second half Trim scored a third when Sean Lynch made a run from half way, all the way into the Athboy penalty area only to be brought down by an Athboy defender. Trim were awarded the penalty which Sean then scored. Trim almost got a fourth when a long range shot from Aaron O'Sullivan unluckily hit the bar. Athboy pulled a goal back mid way through the second half and Trim were put under pressure as they went down to 10 players for two periods due to players having to go off to recover from bad knocks. Ryan McLeod made a key save turning the ball one handed past the post and the back four of Cian Gerrehy, Mark Winters, Gareth Vallely and Cillian Kirby defended well to keep out Athboy in the last 10 minutes of the match.
Trim Celtic squad: Ryan McLeod, Mark Winters, Gareth Vallely, Cillian Kirby, Cian Garrehy, Sean Mukitiri, Evan Collins, Sean Lynch, Jack Conneely, Dylan Hegney, Adrian Karbownik, Aaron O'Sullivan.
