Match Report

The under 13 Premier side played table toppers Kells Blackwater on a sunny Tuesday evening in the MDL. Looking to upset the odds Trim were determined to get off to a good start and play the game on their terms. Trim duly delivered and were on the front foot creating goal chances, the defence coping with all the physically larger Kells side threw at them, midfield playing at high intensity throughout and up front Trim's strikers were a constant menace. Both goalkeepers were kept busy with Diarmuid Doyle making two notable saves to go in at half time 0-0.
Playing into the sun in the second half a similar pattern emerged until after 15 minutes a tackle on goalkeeper Diarmuid Doyle forced him to be withdrawn, with Tadhg Carty deputising. Immediately called upon he made an excellent save and this galvanised the spirit of the squad and it would take something special to beat Trim and Carty. Kells were dominant for periods but Trim defended brilliantly and attacked at speed with the whole squad playing their part. After five minutes of stoppage time the whistle blew for a goal less draw, a reward for an excellent performance. Trim Celtic supporters witnessed over a hours worth of skill and real determination from this young group in energy sapping conditions which will give all involved much confidence going forward.
