Match Report

This morning’s match between Trim Celtic and Parkceltic was a game between the two remaining unbeaten teams in the League so it was probably inevitable that this match would end up with the points shared. This was a game of the proverbial two halves with Trim Celtic dominating the 1st half but Parkceltic were the better side in the 2nd half.
Trim started well and their 1st chance fell to James Molloy in the 4th minute when he was played through by David Boyle but his firmly struck shot was well saved by the Parkceltic keeper. Trim’s early endeavours paid off in the 10th minute when, following a corner, the ball fell to Joey Cole on the edge of the box and his shot flew in off the underside of the bar for his 1st goal of this campaign. Sean Mc Donnell had started the game well on the right wing and was causing the Summerhill defence problems early on and he was unlucky with a fine strike that just went over the bar in the 18th minute.
The score remained 1-0 to Trim Celtic up to half time but Parkceltic started the 2nd half well and with there only being the single goal in the match remained a constant threat and indeed were unlucky not to equalise in the 43rd minute when they struck the crossbar. Trim Celtic responded well to this close shave and Kris Gorman was unlucky 4 minutes later when his shot just flew over the bar, Parkceltic did get back on level terms in the 53rd minute when a long range speculative shot sneaked in at David Currans left hand post. Trim Celtic almost regained the lead 5 minutes later when a fine cross by Conor O’Hare was met by David Boyle in the box but his header went over the bar. The final 10 minutes was played out with both teams content with a point a piece and their unbeaten status preserved.
Best on the day for Trim Celtic were Wes Gibbon in defence, Joey Cole and Conor O’Hare in the middle and Sean Mc Donnell up front.
