Match Report

This match was a top against bottom clash with league leaders Celtic leaving the MDL with all three points. Missing their regular keeper David Curran David Boyle in the 1st half and Sean Tully put their hands in to don the gloves. Kentstown to their credit started well and managed to keep Celtic at bay for the first 10 minutes. However within the space of the next 3 minutes, Celtic were 3 up and the game was effectively over. The first 2 goals were both created by Conor O’Hare who supplied Ciaran Caulfield and Aaron Mc Cormack with two wonderful passes to put them in a position to convert past the keeper. The 3rd goal was an o.g. after Joey Cole found Ciaran out wide and his cross was deflected into his own net by a Kentstown defender. In the 15th minute Conor O’Hare went on a mazy run past several defenders but the ball took a bobble just as he was about to shoot resulting in his shot missing the target. Celtic had to wait until the 23rd minute for their 4th goal and again it was Conor O’Hare who supplied the assist with a fine cross for James Molloy to finish to the net. A minute later it was 5 as Aaron put Ciaran through for his 2nd of the day. Sean Mc Donnell then got in on the scoring act with a brace before half time in the 30th and 33rd minute to leave the half time score 7-0.
Celtic introduced their 3 subs at half time and the goals kept coming. James Molloy went on a run and found Conor O’Hare who has a simple tap in for his well-deserved goal in the very 1st minute of the 2nd half. David Boyle was unlucky when his shot from outside the box came crashing off the bar in the 40th minute. Kris Gorman squeezed a long range shot in at the near post to make it 9 in the 45th minute. Five minutes later Conor Gray found James Molloy who in turn played Conor O’Hare in for his 2nd and Celtic 10th goal. Celtic’s final goal arrived in the 55th minute when an intelligent free from Ben Kavanagh found Conor Gray at the edge of the box and his exquisite lob to the back post resulted in a simple tap in for David Boyle. in the 55th minute when an intelligent free from Ben Kavanagh found Conor Gray at the edge of the box and his exquisite lob to the back post resulted in a simple tap in for David Boyle.
