Match Report

A well contested game between two well matched teams this morning at the MDL where Trim entertained Kells Blackwater in the league. Both teams have been in reasonable form in the past few weeks but Kells just about edged the contest with the only goal of the game midway through the second half. As is often the case the wind played a huge part in the game. Trim played the first half with the wind behind them and started confidently pinning Kells back for long stretches. Their dominance led to chances for Adrian Bisczs, Aidan Scott, Sam Lynch and Dylan Smith but the Kells keeper was equal to those that were on target. Trim's defence had the measure of their opponents throughout the first half and made good use of keeper Donal McGale to stem any Kells attacks.
The teams turned around scoreless and with the strength of the wind it was clear that Trim would have to work hard in the second half. This they did and while Kells were having the best of things in the second half the whole Trim team put in a great effort to stay in the game. After 17 minutes the pressure finally told when Kells broke through the defensive line and fired past Donal McGale who had no chance to save. Kells now went after a clincher and Trim could only muster sporadic attacks. But Trim's defence stayed solid to the end. In the final minutes Celtic won a free about 40 yards out from Kells goal. Adrian Bisczs floated a beautiful ball towards the back post where Jack Fagan was within a hair of turning the ball into the net for the equaliser. On balance Kells shaded the game but this was a good performance from Trim against strong opponents. The whole Trim squad performed well with Donal McGale having another good game between the posts. In a very solid defence Kacper Jagodzinski excelled while Sam Lynch and Aidan Scott more than held their own in central midfield especially in the first half. Tyreece Tango had an excellent first half in particular playing very tidy football. Adrian Bisczs was dangerous up front and Jack Fagan came on to great effect in the second half.
Trim Celtic squad: Donal McGale, Nathan McCormack, Finn O'Connor, Sam Lynch , Oisin Gallagher, Sean McPhillips, Aaron O'Connor, Kacper Jagodzinski , Tyreece Tango, Dylan Smith, Jack Fagan , Robert Gunning, Aidan Scott, Adrian Biszcs
