2002 Boys Div 1 vs Borora Juniors

Sat 01 Apr 17
Score: 11 - 1

Match Report

This match was defined by an extraordinary scoring burst which saw Celtic score an incredible six goals in eight minutes mid-way through the first half to dent the confidence of a Borora side who held their own and kept their hosts scoreless for the first fifteen minutes. While Celtic played well and passed the ball brilliantly major plaudits have to go to the attitude and commitment of the Borora players who never let their heads drop and scored the best goal of the game, albeit a late consolation. Their attitude was exemplified at the final whistle when, after the handshakes, a Borora player noticed Liam Reilly injured on the ground and went over to lift him up to shake his hand, followed by his team-mates. This kind of sportsmanship cannot be taught and they should rightly be proud of themselves. Best for Celtic on the day were Kevin McGowan and Luke Doyle.
