Match Report

A brace in each half decided this U16 Premier Division clash between Trim Celtic Whites and Torro at Tully Park this afternoon. Torro had started the season very well and were likely to be tough opponents for Trim who themselves had started the season in good form. After an even enough first quarter Torro began to get on top and a concerted spell of pressure resulted in the opening goal from a shot from the edge of the penalty area after 22 minutes. Torro continued to press for the remainder of the half but Trim contained them well. But with 3 minutes to the break Trim gave possesssion away in their own half and paid the price when Torro took the ball down the right wing, got in the cross which was dispatched to the net for a 2-0 lead.
The second half continued as the first had ended with Torro on top and Trim finding it difficult to pose a threat at the other end. After 10 minutes Torro scored from a free kick which went under the defensive wall to give Donal McGale in the Trim goal no chance. Trim remained competitive but were restricted to long shots and the odd solo break but with 5 minutes to go Torro pressure resulted in a fourth goal. That was the final score of the game and Torro had a deserved and convincing win. While Trim`s performance was a little disappointing, today they were up against a team who will challenge for the title. Trim will have learned again today what`s required against Premier Division opposition and will be wiser for the experience. Best for Trim were Henri Devine and Cormac Conroy while stand-in keeper Donal McGale did well between the sticks.
Trim Celtic squad: Donal McGale, Henri Devine, Finn O'Connor, Shaun Mulryan, Adam Boylan, Shane Bryan, Tyreece Tango, Aidan Scott, Cormac Conroy, Dylan Smith, Cealain Geraghty, Kacper Jagodzinski
