Match Report

Once again Celtic were left to rue the decision to play games in the summer months as they were left without six players away on holidays along with two players injured which left them with just twelve players for this important league game. With David Boyle joining up for the second half from the U15s with thanks to manager Alan McCormack, Celtic at least had some cover and they needed it after just five minutes with left back Eoghan Lenehan pulling up. With no cover on the bench Celtic were struggling with some minor knocks and the heat was certainly draining the energy of the players. Cosmos were better man for man all over the pitch and were thoroughly deserving of a 2-0 lead at half time. Celtic were creating plenty of chances with Mark Dempsey lively up front , stabbing just wide as the Cosmos 'keeper came out to narrow the angle. Disaster struck again for Celtic as Adam Wilson came off injured to be replaced by David Boyle. Cosmos took full advantage of the re-shuffle in the hoops rear guard to score two more well taken goals. Celtic pulled one back with Fionn McEvoy firing high into the net from a great corner and it was no more than they deserved on a day when they gave everything to play through the pain barrier on the hottest of days in Trim.
Trim Celtic: Kevin Dalton, Eoghan Lenehan, Andrew Gibney, Adam Wilson, Eoin Gaffney, Sean Foley, Fionn McEvoy, Conor McGinley, Liam Reilly, Luke Doyle, Mark Dempsey
Subs: James Brady (for Lenehan), David Boyle (for Wilson)
