In a close encounter, Trim Celtic Greens came away with the win against OMP UTD as both teams battled it out in this League match.
Even though Celtic started brightly, it was a mix up at the back that gifted OMP the opening goal on 10 minutes. David Boyle clipped the crossbar with a fine strike moments later and within 5 minutes Celtic were level as Jared Akigbesote left 3 defenders in his wake to place the ball in the bottom corner and gave the keeper no chance.
In the 25th minute, OMP took advantage of another rare Celtic mistake at the back to retake the lead 2-1.
The Champions started increasing the pressure on the OMP defence and scored 2 goals in the space of 10 minutes before half time. Both goals came from excellent corners from Henrique Magno. The first was an instinctive strike inside the box from Kris Gorman. The second was converted by the in-form Wes Gibbons scoring in his second consecutive game.
Celtic introduced 3 subs at half time and two of them combined for the fourth goal. An excellent free kick from Alan Costello came back off the post and Conor Fay was on hand to open his account for Celtic.
Credit where credit's due, OMP Utd continued to work tirelessly and never gave up. The got their reward with 10 minutes to go when they scored a free kick.
Celtic held on to take all 3 points and remain top of the league.
Man of the match was the excellent Jamie Callan.
