2003 Boys Div 1 vs OMP Utd

Match Report

Trim Celtic took to the field with just a squad of 11 for this game against OMP and they were hampered further by the fact that regular keeper Shaun Mulryan was unable to play due to injury but he turned up to support his teammates. Despite a lot of rejigging of positions this was probably the best performance of the season from this team. OMP deserved the win because they capitalised on errors when they got the chance and scored a couple of excellent goals from long distance shots. As might be expected Trim started tentatively and were 2 -0 down after 15 minutes. Celtic gradually got a grip on the game around midfield and deservedly got a goal back after Dylan Smith's perseverance won him an opportunity to poke the ball into the net from close range just before half time.
Unfortunately for Trim three minutes into the second half OMP scored again. The visitors very nearly scored again two minutes later but Evan Smyth pulled off a great save to deny them. However Trim did not give up on the game and pressed hard to get back into the match. But with 10 minutes to go OMP got goal number four from a rare foray into the Trim penalty area. To their great credit Trim regrouped and got a second with five minutes left from a wonderful strike by Adrian Biszcs. The Hoops created further chances but couldn't find a third goal. On a day when many players played in unfamiliar positions both Aaron O'Connor and Tyreece Tango impressed in midfield with huge work rate and intelligent football. Adrian Biszcs and Dylan Smith got the goals their performances deserved and Jack Fagan excellled in central midfield. Finn O'Connor and Sam Lynch had much the better of the tussles with their opponents.
Trim Celtic: Sean McPhillips, Finn O'Connor, Sam Lynch, Oisin Gallagher, Evan Smyth, Tyreece Tango, Dylan Smyth, Jack Fagan, Aaron O'Connor, Donal McGale, Adrain Biszcs
