Match Report

Trim Celtic were crowned Premier League champions again after an excellent performance against Albion Rovers under the MDL lights on a wet and windy night. Albion made the long midweek journey and were not going to make it easy for Trim. For much of the first half Trim dominated possession but were limited to some half chances in front of goal whilst being very solid defensively themselves.
Half time 0-0.
Trim. whilst happy with their first half performance were encouraged to stay patient and battle for every ball. The breakthrough came after 10 minutes when Jack Conneely made a trademark run into the box and passed to Shane Bell who quickly turned and placed the ball in the far corner. From then on Trim pressed relentlessly which has always been a trademark of this squad.
A flowing move the length of the pitch freed captain Sam Kennedy on the right wing who crossed a pin point ball to the on rushing Daniel McCormack to finish to the net brilliantly. An old school finish with ball and two defenders ending up in the net! Soon after McCormack had the ball in the net again and Trim knew it was going to be their night. Albion kept battling and Diarmuid Doyle, when called upon, made a brilliant save to thwart the visitors.
Paddy Allen from the NECSL presented the Cup to the squad after the game as the weather took another turn for the worst.
A great squad performance overall with Charlie Molloy, Shane Bell, Sean O’Shea, Daniel McCormack and Max McGowan on top form on the night. Four broken bones and long term injuries over the course of the season meant at times the squad was short but this bunch of lads always found a way to get the results. Attention turns now to the remaining Shield games and a well deserved break.
Squad: Diarmuid Doyle, Victor Barbu, Shane Bell, Mark Brennan, Jack Conneely, James Foley, Adrian Karbownik, Sam Kennedy, Finn Maher, Daniel McCormack, Ronan McGinley, Max McGowan, Charlie Molloy, Sean O'Shea, Aaron O'Sullivan
