Match Report

A cracking goal from Aidan Scott 5 minutes before the interval was the decider in a closely fought Major Shield game at Tully Park. Shaun Mulryan laid the ball off to Aidan Scott 5 yards outside the penalty area. Aidan stepped inside his marker and hammered an unstoppable shot past the Torro keeper. Up to that point Torro had had the better of things though Trim created chances on the break with Cormac Conroy and Dylan Smith working hard to keep the Torro defence honest. Torro are a very useful team, with strong players in all lines. They were marginally the better team in the first half but Trim’s defence and midfield coped admirably with everything that was thrown at them. Oisin Gallagher and Kacper Jagodzinski were solid at centre back and Finn O’Connor and Henri Devine handled good opponents very well with assistance from the wide midfielders Donal McGale and Sam Lynch.
The second half saw Torro increase the pressure in search of a leveller and despite having the wind in the second half Trim spent most of the half on the back foot and despite incessant attacking from Torro held out well for the win. Sean Halton was solid in goal for Trim working well with his defence throughout. Luke Ennis and Aaron O’Connor came off the bench in the second half and worked hard to keep Trim in front. Torro were unfortunate not to get something from the game but Trim worked hard to get the win. Best for Trim were Finn O Connor, Henri Devine, Aidan Scott, Oisin Gallagher and Cormac Conroy.
Trim Celtic squad: Sean Halton, Luke Ennis, Finn O’Connor , Sam Lynch, Oisin Gallagher, Shaun Mulryan, Aaron O’Connor, Cormac Conroy , Donal McGale, Dylan Smith, Kacper Jagodzinski, Henri Devin, Aidan Scott
