Match Report

An improving Trim Celtic hosted league leaders Parkvilla in what was to be stern test Trim had been showing improved form in the past few weeks and Parkvilla were likely to provide a stern test. The first half was evenly contested and hard fought. Celtic took the lead after 15 minutes when Aidan Scott put Cormac Conroy through to finish firmly past the keeper. Trim deserved the lead at this point as the defence of Donal McGale, Kacper Jagodzinski, Sean McPhillips and Tyreece Tango were coping readily with Parkvilla’s attack and the midfield of Aidan Scott, Shaun Mulryan, Dylan Smith and Henri Devine more than held their own. Up front Cormac Conroy and Aaron O’Connor kept Parkvilla’s defence honest, pressing high at all times. On 30 minutes Parkvilla broke down the right and a superb shot across goal into the top corner levelled the game.
Level at the break was probably a fair reflection of the game up to that point. However, Parkvilla upped the ante in the second half and their intent to win the game was evident. They now pressured Trim relentlessly. 10 minutes into the second half the hoops’ resistance was broken after pressure forced a mistake in defence and Parkvilla took the lead for the first time. Trim lost their way for next few minutes and conceded a further 2 goals. However they roused themselves for the final 10 minutes and got a deserved ssecond goal 5 minutes from the end when Dylan Smith netted following an assist from Cormac Conroy. For the most part this was a positive hard working performance from Trim with substitutes Daniel Duane and Nathan McCormack contributing well when they came on. Parkvilla deserved their win but the Trim lads can be satisfied that they performed well against very good opponents. Keeper Shaun Halton again pullled off some excellent saves and continues to gel well with his defense. Best for Trim were Shaun Mulryan, Aidan Scott, Sean McPhillips and Cormac Conroy.
