The first 10 minutes had Kentstown slighty pressurising the Trim defence but the Trim midfield wrestled back control and slowly began to extert their authority. This came to fruition with a through ball to Sean Lynch on the right wing who bided his time and rather than crossing to the onrushing strikers he hit a lovely ball over the goalkeeper who could do nothing to stop the sweeping shot. A carbon copy goal 5 minutes later by Sean Lynch again gave Trim a 2-0 lead. Trim to their credit continued to press and with great industry by midfield partnership of Jack O'Donnell and Evan Collins brought another outstanding ball to Sean Lynch who wrapped up his 1st half hatrick with stunning affect. With a 3-0 lead Trim looked to close out the 1st half but with 2 minutes to go Kentstown won a free kick at the edge of the box and the resulting ball in led to a Kentstown goal to bring the 1st half to a close.
The 2nd half was a cagey affair with Trim looking to keep their defence intact led comfortably by Charlie McCormack in the centre of defence. Trim continued to seek a finishing strike to close out the game and they came close a number of times with Dylan Hegney, Sean MuktirI and Cormac Savage all coming close. This led to a nailbiting finish but to Trim's credit they continued to seek to finish the game off while staying strong in defence.
