Match Report

A first visit to Powderley Park, home of Torro Utd, for this Trim Celtic team on a beautiful morning for football. The pitch was in excellent condition and provided a perfect surface for any team wanting to play football. As it turned out Trim played some very good football at times showing much improvement from last weeks disappointing result against Kingscourt. From the off Celtic were in control and while creating some chances didn`t manage to score the lead goal. This in part was due to a very competent Torro keeper and some excellent defending by the home team. At the other end the Trim defence looked solid and gave very little. away to a willing Torro forward line.
At half time it was 0-0 but it was clear that if Trim maintained their composure goals would surely come. And so it proved when 7 minutes into the second half Evan Smyth received a well timed pass form Dylan Smith, skipped past a defender and slipped the ball past the keeper for the opening goal. Trim now increased the pressure and 6 minutes later forced a corner on the left. Evan Smyth put in a great delivery for Arnas Mineikis to glance a deft header just inside the far post. It was all Trim at this stage and 5 minutes later Adrian Biszcz capped a fine performance when he embarked on a powerful run down the right, cut inside a defender and drilled the ball past the keeper. From there to the end Torro battled manfully but couldn`t find a way back into the game. 3 - 0 was probably a fair reflection and was just reward for the efforts of this group. So many positives to take from the game, many things to work at and improve on but the lads can be happy with their work today. Thanks to Donal McGale for his assistance with this report.
