Last seasons runners-up Newfoundwell were the hosts for Trim Celtic's opening Premier Division game. In a reverse of last seasons result Newfoundwell ran out 2-1 winners courtesy of a late goal. The hosts took the lead from the penalty spot and held that lead until the break. Celtic went searching for an equaliser and Eoin O'Connor was unlucky to see an effort strike the post. Substitute Anthony Craig's goal looked like it had earned Celtic a draw until Newfoundwell grabbed a late winner.
