Match Report

Trim Celtic took to Tully Park on Friday in the first round of the NECSL cup against Kingscourt the team that knocked them out in last seasons campaign. Celtic started on the front foot with Max Mullhall and Shane McGrath seeing a lot of the ball down the left. Fifteen minutes in Celtic were one up McGrath laying the ball inside to Aaron O Rourke who hit a spectacular twenty five yard drive into the roof of the net half time. The Celts were controlling the game however Kingscourt were making it difficult for them to increase their lead when on forty minutes Adam Curran picked up a loose ball from the left and finished low and hard. A few minutes later it was three after McGrath was brought down in the box with the resultant penalty converted by Kyle Ennis who was just back from injury. The Trim side made it four through Adam Curran after some neat footwork and completed his hat-trick five minutes later. The final goal was a fine move. Shane O’Dowd started out in his own half down the left linking up with Luke O’Halloran and Ennis whose sublime deft touch left the ball at Oisin O Neil’s foot who moved it quickly across to the right side where the oncoming Dylan Pearce finished. Celtic’s name was in the hat for the second round. Best for Trim Celtic were Shane McGrath, Max Mulhall and hat-trick hero Adam Curran.
