Match Report

Celtic rounded off their season with an exciting 3-3 draw away to Oldcastle in a game which allowed Celtic to use their entire squad with thanks to the Oldcastle management who didn't object to the use of all 18 players. With Celtic changing almost the entire team at half-time the game was a bit disjointed at times but this only added to the excitement as both teams tried to finish the season on a high. Oldcastle took the lead ten minutes in when a high shot from outside the area caught 'keeper Kevin Dalton unawares in the Celtic goal. The hoops were level ,however, within minutes as Evan deCourcey Tobin stooped to head in an excellently delivered Andreas Lopez corner. This was Tobin's fourth goal from corners in recent weeks and he is proving quite the goal poacher in the six-yard box. Celtic then built on this when Liam Reilly , at his tenacious best, chased down the Oldcastle 'keeper to win the ball before flicking it around him and slotting home for a half-time lead.
Shortly after half time Oldcastle equalised through an o.g from a quickly taken corner but Celtic soon upped the pace. Numerous chances and half chances were to go a begging before good work by Lopez and James Murray found Luke Doyle in the clear. Doyle made no mistake smashing home a well taken side foot volley to regain the lead. Unfortunately though ,in keeping with the game ,Celtic could not prevent another equaliser and a well struck Oldcastle goal was to prove the final score of the game and leave the hoops in fourth position at the finish , only three point behind second place but well adrift of league winners Parkvilla. It has been another excellent season for the lads as we have improved again season on season and our rewards for all their hard work are not far away.
