Match Report

Despite the poor weather of the last few days the match against Kells got the go ahead with the pitch in reasonable condition and the day itself was dry and calm. Trim started the game strongly playing some good football through midfield and creating two chances in the first 5 minutes. On 8 minutes Henri Devine opened the scoring after good interplay between Kacper Jagodzinski and Dylan Smith. Celtic pressed on and Dylan Smith finished another good move involving Sam Lynch, Arnas Mineikis and Aidan Scott. Trim looked as if they would finish this game off before half time as they created chance after chance but none were converted. To their credit the Kells side battled their way into the game and on 20 minutes they capitalised on sloppy Trim play to pull a goal back. As the game moved towards the interval Trim did make further chances but Kells had gained a foothold in the game and were looking far more competitive.
Although the quality of Trim`s play wasn't as good as the first half chances were still coming in the second. Dylan Smith, Evan Smyth and Sam Lynch all had opportunities to increase Trim`s lead but were thwarted by the Kells keeper. Midway through the second half Kells levelled after some sloppy defending by Trim. Trim continued to look more dangerous but Kells battled well without threatening Donal McGale in the Trim goal. The game petered out to a draw. Kells were deserving of a draw for their efforts. Trim will be disappointed at losing a 2 goal lead to a team they looked to have the measure of for the first 20 minutes. However Kells put in much the greater effort and deserved something from the game. Dylan Smith, Aidan Scott and Jack Fagan were best for Trim and Donal McGale did well between the posts.
