Match Report

Trim Celtic's 12 Green side defeated Parkvilla D1 in the quarter final of the NECSL Cup at the MDL grounds on Saturday. From the off Trim made most of the running, playing some good combination football. James Foley, Nico Fragoyiannis, Sam Kennedy and Shane Bell all came close to an opening goal with the goalpost and Parkvilla's goalkeeper keeping them at bay. On the stroke of half time they were rewarded with a deserved lead when James Foley scored another wonder goal to add to his collection, his mazy dribbling and close control left all in his wake and finished with a strike to the roof of the net.
Immediately after the break Foley extended the lead after a well placed strike from distance. Soon after Rocco Martinis setup Foley to crash the ball against the crossbar leaving the onrushing Evan Collins to finish from close range.
Thereafter Trim rang the changes and Parkvilla finished the match in the ascendancy with the brilliant Diarmuid Doyle and his defense keeping them at bay, whilst Cormac Savage hit the cross bar after a fine Trim attack. Parkvilla got the goal they deserved with time nearly up to leave the final result 3-1. Both side will be happy with their efforts, with Trim producing a solid squad performance with numerous excellent individual performances.
