Match Report

Trim Celtic Under 12 (Green) played Skyrne Tara in round two of the NECSL Cup at Ross Cross. From the off Trim made all the running, playing some good combination football, with Tadhg Carty, James Foley, Nico Fragoyiannis and Shane Bell coming close to an opening goal. After 17 minutes of play the ball fell to Finn Maher way outside the box, he quickly controlled the ball and unleashed a dipping shot over the Skyrne goalkeeper and just under the croosbar for a spectacular goal and well deserved lead, which Trim mantained until the break.
Trim made a blistering start to the second half and after 3 minutes a James Foley through ball put Shane Bell through on goal and he calmly slid the ball under the ongrushing goalkeeper. From there on Trim were in dominant form and followed up with three quick goals. An Evan Collins shot was saved by the Skyrne goalkeeper and finished to the net by Tadhg Carty. Finn Maher followed up with his second after a good run down the left wing, he cut into the box and finished to the far corner. Tadhg Carty added to his tally with a close range shot. Skyrne Tara to their credit battled and had some opportunities with goalkeeper and captain Diarmuid Doyle keeping them at bay ably helped by Ronan McGinley, Sam Kennedy and Rocco Martinis. Another Trim sweeping movement led to Ben Ryan being one and one with the goalkeeper but he shot early and unleashed an unstoppable effort to the top left hand corner. Just as time was up Cormac Savage finished some clever build up play to the net, after both he and Noah Lacey O'Dea had come close on earlier occasions. Overall Trim had some periods of excellent football and the squad played with great purpose.
