Match Report

Scorers James Murray 20 mins, Daniel Coleman 55 mins
Celtic got back to winning ways on a dreadful morning for football in Cavan as they overcame the wind and rain to record a fully deserved 2-1 win against a good Bailieboro side who were looking to follow up on their victory over Oldcastle the previous week. Once both teams got to grips with the elements the game ebbed and flowed with chances at both ends. After twenty minutes a good passing move saw Liam Reilly free on the left hand side of the penalty area. His well struck shot was well saved but the ball fell nicely for James Murray to score his second goal of the season to put the hoops in front. With ten minutes to go to half time however Bailieboro were level with a nicely taken free kick which found the top corner to send the teams in level at half time. With the wind behind them in the second half Celtic took the game to Bailieboro and with fifteen minutes to go took a deserved lead. Some quick thinking by Andreas Lopez and Evan deCourcey Tobin saw a quick short corner taken and Tobin sent a first time ball right into the danger area which caused havoc in the home penalty area and Daniel Coleman was on hand to poke the ball home sparking great celebrations both on and off the pitch. Celtic held firm despite some pressure from Bailieboro and Tobin had a great chance right at the end but his shot flew inches over the bar. This was another brave team effort from all involved as unfortunately another large turnout meant all the subs could not be used on the day. It's Enfield up next and a win for Celtic would see them leapfrog them into third place. Best on the day for Celtic were Liam Reilly, Adam Wilson and James Murray.
