Match Report

Trim Celtic scorers: Tadhg Carty, James Foley
Trim Celtic Green played Johnstown FC for the second time in two weeks and again both sides were evenly matched throughout. Trim determined to get back to winning ways started brightly and got the lead after 6 minutes. Shane Bell sprinted onto a through ball, to leave him one on one with the goalkeeper, his deflected effort fell into the path of captain James Foley to leave the easiest of tap ins. Johnstown replied with an equaliser after 10 minutes but undeterred Trim played some excellent football and had many opportunities throughout. Just before half time a long distance James Foley free kick went all the way to goal, too hot to handle for the Johnstown keeper the alert Tadhg Carty pounced on the rebound to make it a deserved 2-1 half time lead. However collective mistakes were to prove costly for Trim in the second half. A free header from a corner kick led to a Johnstown equaliser and the lead followed after a soft penalty decision. Trim continued to chase the game and could not be faulted for effort but shortly before full time were caught on the counter attack. Final score 4-2 to Johnstown. Best for Trim Tadhg Carty, James Foley, Shane Bell and Victor Garbu.
