Match Report

24th October, MDL Grounds NECSL 12 Premier Division Trim Celtic 2 - 5 Kingscourt Harps Trim Celtic scorers: Dylan Hegney, Sean O'Shea (pen) In their first match of the reformed Premier Division, Celtic got off to the ideal start with Dylan Hegney firing in a cracking left foot shot in the opening minutes but the lead was soon surrendered after a defensive mix up. Sean O'Shea twice went close to putting them back in front before Kingscourt took the lead through an unstoppable free-kick.
Stand-in captain Dennis Darby came close to equalising with a superb long range effort but Harps went in at the break 3-1 up courtesy of a well taken but debatable penalty.
Celtic regrouped at the break and dominated early in the 2nd half as they looked to get back into the game with Max McGowan, Sam Sweeney and Sean O'Shea all going close. Paddy Barnwell had a strong penalty appeal turned away and Kingscourt hit on the break, making it 4-1 after an unlucky deflection left keeper Ryan McLeod with no chance.
Despite again missing some key players Celtic picked themselves up and kept driving forward with the impressive Brian O'Halloran, Dylan Coyle and Sean O'Shea working tirelessly and they got some reward when O'Shea converted a penalty after Jack O'Donnell was fouled.
Sam Sweeney was excellent when he came back on for the injured Paddy Barnwell and created several openings with chances falling to Ryan Murtagh and Max McGowan but Kinsgscourt sealed the win late in the game when a long free-kick evaded everybody and went straight in.
Trim Celtic squad: Ryan McLeod, Mark Winters, Dennis Darby, Brian O'Halloran, Paddy Barnwell, Dylan Coyle, Sam Sweeney, Dylan Hegney, Sean O'Shea, Max McGowan, Jack O'Donnell, Ryan Murtagh, Tom Boran
